Okay I am a few days late on this report, but I did see the Lunar Eclipse on 2/20/08 and it was spectacular!! I tried to take a pic but they did not come out, so I took this pic off of the web for anyone who has not yet seen a Lunar Eclipse. I tried to get my five year old excited about it, but surprisingly he was not (he is usually very excited about most things but has been under the weather for awhile). Nevertheless, as we were leaving a bookstore here in Portland we looked up and saw the eclipse. We asked my son what it was and he immediately blurted out " It is when the Earth comes between the sun and the moon." Heck I was impressed.
Here are some good links to learn more about Lunar Eclipses: shadow and substance, NASA's page for lunar eclipses, and Wiki's informational page.
I truly enjoyed watching the moon slowly be engulfed by our Earth's shadow. It is one of those moments that one can truly feel, if open to it, the enormity of the universe and all of its offerings.

Blessings and to all a good night!
